Brief description of Vinnitsa state
Vinnitsa state was formed on February 27, 1932. It has
an area of 26500 km2 (4,5 % of the territory of Ukraine). The
population of the state makes 1,815,000 , including urban population – 882,000.
Vinnitsa state is located in forest-steppe zone within the limits of the
Podolsk hills. There are nearly 204 rivers within the state, each more than
10 kms in length, and the two major ones are the Southern Bug and the Dniester.
Vinnitsa has a moderately continental climate with mild winter and warm humid
summer. Five universities, 453 medical establishments, 31 health-resorts
function there. Theatres - 2, cinemas, cultural centers, clubs - 1256. Monuments
of history and culture - 3144, museums - 20. The museum of the world famous
surgeon N.I. Pirogov is very popular, his body is embalmed and is kept in
the burial vault near the museum.
Brief description of Vinnitsa city
Vinnitsa - is an administrative, economic and
regional centre of Ukraine. The city is located on the bank of the river Southern
Bug, 260 kms to the south of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine (4 hours by train),
14 hours by train from Moscow and 6 - from Odessa.
The city is connected by the railway and air paths to the
western Europe and other countries. Average temperature in winter -5 –7°, summer -
+20 +27°c. Vinnitsa
is known as students’ city of Ukraine, it is proud of such outstanding educational
institutions as: Vinnitsa Technical
University, Pedagogical University, Trade Economic University, Agricultural
University etc.
